Human beings are doomed to depend on other human beings; this dependence will only lead to disappointment. No human being can be considered 100% dependable, 100% of the time, such an idea is foolhardy at best. In essence every man, woman and child has an innate addiction to the undivided attention of another, there is a need to share our hopes and our fears, our victories and our defeats, our agonies and our ecstasies. Accomplishments are incomplete, without complete acceptance from our colleagues, friends or family. This dependence manifests itself in the very thread that binds two people together, the thing called love; interdependence creates the fabric from which love is cut, torn and bound together to create what we hope will be an endless flow of understanding and compassion.
“I’m unclean, a libertine,
and every time you vent your spleen
I seem to lose the power of speech,
You’re slipping slowly from my reach,
You grow me like an evergreen,
You’ve never seen the lonely me at all
…Without you I’m nothing.”
